Changing the processor of the Acer 5930g (P8400 to T9600)

Hello to all, today and specially to the Acer 5930g forums. I’m going to change a P8400 processor, and we will put a T9600 instead.
- Remove the laptop battery
- Remove the screws on the back cover
- Remove the cover with a plectrum, or anything similar (made of plastic)
- When opening the cover, we must locate the 9 screws of the heat sink (2 in the chipset, 3 in the processor and 4 in the graphic adapter)
- BE CAREFUL with the graphic adapter screws, because they are very soft, and you will ned a good screwdriver.
- Now remove the two tiny screws from the fan (warning, they can fall into the PC, and if this happen, you must dissasembly more parts
- We must take care with the heat sink, we must have some skill because it’s a little fit, but once removed the fan it’s easy
- Release P8400 processor with a flat screwdriver, giving 3/4 turn to the plastic screw,you must hear a “click” and it will be released.
- And here are the two monsters :) , one sais “goodbye” and the other one sais “hello”.
- Clear the graphic adapter contact surfaces with alcohol
- The 9600M GT core cleaned!
- Now use the thermal grease, it will be better to spred a little into the heat sink and a little (very little) in the chips (very spread)
- DON’T REMOVE THE DEFAULT GREASE FROM THE GRAPHIC ADAPTER MEMORIES because they need to be into contact with the heat sink. I only added a little more of thermal grease.
- It’s also recommended to clean the heat sink with alcohol
And that’s the end!! All is ready and mounted, now we must power up the computer and enjoy with our T9600, soon I will write about the benchmarks into the 3D mark, and how to OC the graphic card to the limits. Now I have 7614 marks!! A NEW RECORD!!

Hola buen tutorial tengo la misma pregunta que mario bedoya e la puede cambiar el procesador a una acer travelmate 2420 ??–
en fin la desarmare y les cuento .-
tengo un acer travelmate 2420 y tiene un procesador intel celeron m la cual es bastante malito, mi pregunta es si se le puede cambiar el procesador y en tal caso cuales serian los procesadores compatibles. por fa envienme la respuesta al mail mmmmm5@live.com

Hola, me ha gustado mucho el tutorial, me gustaría saber que memorias le has metido la pc… y si se puede mejorar las ddr2 667 q lleva de casa. creo haber leido x ahi q no soporta ni las ddr2 800,pero me extraña mucho teniedo el bus de hasta 1033… seria posible meterle ddr2 o ddr3 1033??

AHora si se puede queria consultarte lo siguiente.
Tengo un dell xps m1530 y lo e desmontado tela de veces para limpiarlo y camiar pasta.
Ahora mi consulta es relacionada con el cambio de procesador.
TEngo un t7500 a 2.2Ghz 4mb y quiero cambiarlo por uno a 6mb de cahe como un t9600 que has puesto.
NO pasaría nada en cambiar un procesador MEnrom por un Penryn??¿?

Buenas! Tengo un 5930g desde hace unos meses y hoy por primera vez he abierto la carcasa para limpiar un poco el ventilador..y justamente acabo de ver este post.
La verdad es que estoy un poco preocupado por las temperaturas que alcanza, en particular con la grafica, que ahora en verano.. ya que en alto rendimiento me puede alcanzar los 50º sin poner ningun juego puesto y jugando creo que llegan los famosos 90..
Compre una base disipadora pero tampoco hace mucho (y eso que me costó cara, enermax de aeolus)
En fin, lo de comprar un nuevo procesador me parece un poco prematuro, pero alguien me puede decir algo sobre lo de la pasta termica? o posibles soluciones al tema temperaturas? tambien estaba pensando en hacerle un over a la grafica pero supongo que agrabaria el problema de la temp…
Un blog muy interesante! podrian decirme ademas si existe algun foro especifico del 5930?

Hello, in all the models you can change the processor, you must open the cover and watch where is located the processor, and carefully remove the screws of the cooler, it might be similar to this Acer…

Le pasó que ha cascado la gráfica, supongo que se calentó demasiado y se ha fundido algun transistor.
Habrá que cambiarle la pasta térmica.

¿Qué le pasó pues? Yo creo que a un portatil si le metes mano se estropea menos :)
Muy buen reportaje, estaba en lo cierto, se puede cambiar el procesador a este portatil sin mucho problema. Dentro de un tiempo cuando esté mas baratitos quizas lo intente, si llega mi portatil del servicio tecnico ;(

Hola Wande, pues no lo sé exactamente pero yo ahora con el T9600 consigo más a menos las mismas temperaturas al máximo rendimiento (Unos 85º-86º) y menos en IDLE (30º).
Hay usuarios que se quejan de obtener temperaturas de 93º con el P8400, y eso no es normal, para ellos es lo más adecuado cambiarla y limpiar bien la ventilación.
Enhorabuena por la guía, un muy buen curro te has dado con el tutorial. Yo cambiaré la pasta, pero hasta cuanto puede bajar la temperatura una buena pasta?
mmm, muy interesante si, creo que voy a ponerme a desmontar mi portatil ahora y cambiar el procesador, parece facil :) jejejeje.
